Back in 2017, a drastic change happened in the lives of Refugee Girls living across the country when Farhaj Sarwar decided to raise a helping hand for the empowerment of The Tiger Girls. Farhaj Sarwar, the man who has proven himself as a renowned name in the entrepreneur world has served as an epicenter for the project, which was aimed to empower The Tiger Girls.
“Women are the most important part of society and as a responsible human being and organization that aims to support human rights, our goal is to keep working for the betterment of The Girl Refugee. For this, we are taking this small initiative in collaboration with Helen Storey who is also a designer and researcher at the London College of Fashion, UAL,” said Farhaj Sarwar, Managing Director of NRS Relief.
On the occasion of World Refugee Day, NRS Relief launched a massive campaign the ‘#LoveCoats’ project. The goal of this step is to empower the TIGER Girls girls of Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan. Of course, it doesn’t stop here as we aim to support the Refugee Girls across the country. “In this particular event, we aim to transform thermal refugee blankets into high-end fashion,” added Farhaj Sarwar.
The entire event was supervised and managed by Helen Storey who is a designer and researcher at the London College of Fashion, UAL and she is the co-director of The Helen Storey Foundation. Through this campaign, the transformation of thermal refugee blankets was done into high-end fashion. During this event, over 1,250 girls at Zaatari camp learned how to design clothes. The event was launched in collaboration with Tiger (These Inspiring Girls Enjoy Reading) Girls and it was also taken forward in Dubai during the annual Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (Dihad).
Addressing the girls who took part in the event, Farhaj Sarwar, Managing Director of NRS Relief, said that he was quite inspired by the true spirit of these women. ‘I was quite impressed with previous projects by Storey that used the power of fashion to address the world’s most pressing issues. So this time, I decided to be a part of this noble cause.”
This is not the only event when Farhaj Sarwar takes a step to support and help grow the Refugee Girls in the country. He also has been involved in many other ventures that aim to empower the underprivileged through innovative solutions. He is currently serving as a Managing Director of NRS Relief, which is involved in supplying shelter solutions, solar products, core relief items, multipurpose tents and mobile storage units to UN agencies, NGOs, and international organizations across the world. Backed with the commitment to serving society, the goal of this company is to play a key part in the humanitarian community with a strong belief in embracing responsible business practices, a sustainable supply chain and accelerating product development.”
For years now, the company has been developing an enviable range of core relief products and aid essentials. “As a responsible business in the industry, we continue this tradition by pioneering multipurpose tents for medical, educational, logistic and management support use. We don’t just create amazing products, but we produce what is fully compliant with the highest industry and quality standards. Each product we make undergoes quality checks at each stage of the production process,” said Farhaz.
As a Managing Director of NRS Relief, his goal is to design, develop and supply products with the purpose of improving the lives of those who are affected by disasters and need a helping hand to get stable in life. For NRS Relief, people who need help are the prime priority and we keep their needs at the heart of our product development process whilst supporting the acceleration of the sustainable development goals. Talking about the empowerment of The Refugee Girls, NRS International, back in 2016 alone was able to sell more than 4 million blankets of the same category to the most popular and leading aid agencies all across the globe. As a result, the initiative raised enough funds to empower the Refugee Girls in the country. The initiative was also praised by Bin Rashid, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. He could not contain his excitement and pleasure to lead such a summit on his soil.
Talking about the initiative, Farhaj Sarwar said “I was very impressed with Professor Storey when we first met at DIHAD. She has really innovative and great ideas to support the Refugee Girls across the country and the world. This is not the only step we have taken, but there are going to be more such events when we join hands together for the betterment of these women as well as society. The Tiger Girls also did their best and we are really impressed with the transformation. I could not believe that blankets can become so fashionable, but the women have made it possible.”
For years now, Farhaj has been supporting such causes that are aimed to support the underprivileged and the Refugee Girls across the country, but this one has proven to be a big milestone for Farhaj. He is not just a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist but has also proven himself to be an inspiration for millions of others across the world.
